Hey everyone! This is legit my first Edit that I am writing for you guys… WOWWW. Real honestly. Anyway, I’m gonna tell you all of an ancient story of how Edital came about, and by ancient I mean like a few months ago. Let’s get flipping and stop tripping.
Okay, so I was sitting at the dining room table of my old apartment working on building a health supplements company. I had been spending months and months on it. I actually initially wanted it to be an electrolyte company, but I never used electrolytes like that, so I switched it.
I had the entire brand world figured out, the mission, and everything. I was constantly changing the formula of these health supplements. First, it was going to be a gummy made from only whole fruit. I didn’t really like that idea, so I switched it to a supplement syrup made with only honey.
The problem? It tasted like trash, lol.
I continuously switched formulas trying to perfect the product. At one point everything was ready except the product. I had come up with the marketing for the brand, and I even handmade a gigantic pillow with my sewing machine to use as a brand prop.
My poor $200 dollars down the drain.
After spending months working on this product, I asked myself one question.
“Would I even use this product myself?”
My answer?
“No.”
It was then that I realized I actually did not care about the product at all. The only thing I cared about was the mission behind the brand, which was connecting people through the health product.
I had come up with so many ways to bring people together with run clubs, matcha pop-ups, dinners, events, and so much more. The funny thing was that I was already creating original series and thinking of interviews I could do that did not correlate in any way to the brand. I was basically gonna force myself to make the product fit into these series and interviews.
It’s kinda funny how things work out.
I quickly scratched the health supplements company, and it was there that Edital was created.
Okay, so now after months and months of work, I am at 0 again with my business. YAY, right! In addition, I am almost done with my senior year of college.
Here comes the fun part…
At the very beginning of Edital, I was approached with a job opportunity in San Francisco, California. The pay? Nearly a six-figure salary straight out of college. The job offer was secured, so if I said yes, it was mine.
For everyone who does not know, I love being at the beach and will one day have land with a farm near it. So, this seems like an amazing opportunity for me, right?
It was.
As I decided on that job offer, I shortly got an email that I was accepted into the Texas A&M Master’s program.
So, you see my dilemma.
I am now at a crossroads with these three major life decisions.
The first one: I move my entire life to California, get new business permits and numbers registered there, and work the corporate 9-to-5.
The second: I move to College Station, Texas, and attend graduate school there.
The last one: I turn down both opportunities and go all in on Edital.
The choice I picked?
I turned down both opportunities to build and pursue Edital.
Now, everyone calm down. I know that some of you may call me a dumbo, but working a corporate 9-to-5 at a desk was not me, and attending graduate school was a safety plan. To put in perspective, I cried at the thought of sitting at a desk all day and never knowing what could’ve happened if I took the chance on Edital.
I truly believe in my company, and I knew if I didn’t pursue it now, I would spend my entire life regretting not taking the chance to go all in.
Why do I believe in it so much?
Well, that’s for another time!
Edital is now built and published.
Before you ask, yes, I will explain Edital.
Edital is acting as a marketing and media network as of now, which is why you see services and Edital Media on our home page. While I want Edital to continue those services in the future, Edital was never meant to become a big marketing agency. I just didn’t design it like that.
The services part in the future will act as Edital working behind the scenes with brands and their brand activations, campaigns, influencers, and social media. So no, Edital will not fully distance itself from the services, but it will also not be the main focus in the future.
The focus is to connect people with brands through our services, connect people with each other and the world around us through original series, interviews, blogs, vlogs, social media, film, and so much more.
It makes sense to me, lol.
Welp, there you have it.
This is only the beginning of Edital Network.
I hope you all enjoy the ride.
AHHHHH I’m scared. No, like actually. HAHA.
Much love, my loves,
– Erin Claire
